Collectivism explained

Some psychologists say that collectivism is a set of beliefs and actions based on the idea that a group, not an individual, is the basic unit of survival. Theoretically or practically, there is a focus on the group instead of the individual, which many of its critics see as a loss for the individual. Most collectivists believe that the “greater good” of the group is more important than the “greater good” of any one person in that group. Some collectivists say that when an individual works for the good of the group, he is also helping himself.
