Hellenistic philosophy was the first skeptical school in the West. Like the other Hellenistic schools, its goal was eudaimonia, which in Pyrrhonism is reached by reaching ataraxia (i.e., a state of being unperturbed).

Ataraxia is reached when you realize that all claims about non-obvious propositions (i.e., dogmas) can’t be proven, so the best thing to do with them is to suspend judgment (i.e., epoche).
